Landreth New Director of Lincoln County Library

Richard Landreth

Richard Landreth joined Lincoln County Library System as its Director and Kemmerer Library Manager in mid-August. He came to Kemmerer after 24 years with Campbell County schools in northeast Wyoming where he was the librarian for Westwood and Rozet libraries. While in Gillette he also served as librarian for Conestoga and 4J. Previously he has worked as a mathematics teacher in Liberal, Kansas, and Tuba City, Arizona.

“Lincoln County Library System has an excellent reputation, which was definitely a draw,” Richard said. “When I saw they were looking for someone to join their organization, I knew immediately it was the place for me. I’m happy to say I was right — I’ve found a supportive library board, dedicated staff, and amazing communities all in a beautiful part of the state to live.”

Richard received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and holds a Master of Library Science from Emporia State University. He strongly believes in giving back to his profession as an active member of Wyoming Library Association. He is a Past President of WLA and has served the organization in a variety of other volunteer positions. He’s also taken the opportunity to put on workshops at the annual conference and share his knowledge.

Being raised on a farm/ranch in the panhandle of Western Nebraska with 6 siblings has given Richard a love for the rural way of life. When not working or reading he enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, skiing and generally exploring nature.

“I’m excited!“ he added. “Between the board, the staff, and the communities, I couldn’t ask for a better place. This library system has accomplished a lot for the people in Lincoln County, and we’ll just keep building on that.”
