Frances R. Dewing Foundation

Supports innovation in early childhood education. Emphasis is placed on new, untried or unusual projects and programs that if successful could have a snowball or ripple effect benefiting the larger educational or local community. The foundation provides seed money in the form of small grants, generally ranging from $1000 to $25,000.
Americans and the Holocaust Traveling Exhibition
DEADLINE: October 14, 2023
Public and academic libraries are invited to apply to host Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. Selected libraries will receive the 1,100-square-foot exhibition on loan for five to six weeks; a $3,000 allowance to support public programs; expenses paid for a library staff member to attend an orientation workshop (May 15-16, 2024 ) at the Museum in Washington, D.C.; andb publicity materials, programming resources, ongoing support from the Museum and the ALA, and more.
Digitizing Hidden Collections: Amplifying Unheard Voices

Grants for digitizing rare and unique content stewarded by collecting organizations in the US and Canada. The program is designed to support efforts to digitize materials that deepen public understanding of the histories of people of color and other communities and populations whose work, experiences, and perspectives have been insufficiently recognized or unattended. Requests must range between $50,000 and $300,000.
Wish You Well Foundation
DEADLINE: Ongoing
Focuses on supporting non-profit organizations in the United States that teach adults the literacy skills they need to communicate, grow, and thrive within their communities. Typical awards range from $200 to $10,000. They do not fund youth programs.
A.R.T. Library Program
DEADLINE: Ongoing
Program offers free art books to public libraries, schools, prisons, and reading centers in the United States and territories. Participants should self-define their community as economically or geographically underserved.
