Sweetwater Community Arts Center’s gallery provides rotating exhibits and features the artwork of school district students from February through May each year.

The Sweetwater County Library System (SCLS) recently received a $5,000 Culture Grows Grant for General Operating Support from Wyoming Humanities. The grant funds will be used to support programs at the library’s Community Fine Arts Center from July through December of 2026.

“We are excited to be a recipient of this grant,” said SCLS Director Lindsey Travis. “These funds will go a long way to help the CFAC provide monthly art programs.”

The SCLS is one of 15 organizations across the state to receive a Culture Grows Grant. This grant is designed to support the cultural network of Wyoming.

“If any organization understands the necessity, benefit, and relief that general operating support can provide, it is Wyoming Humanities,” says executive director Chloé Flagg, she continues, “We believe that these dollars are transformative for our cultural organizations across the state, but there is so much more to this grant program.”

Awardees of the Culture Grows Grant join a Cohort that will move throughout the year in concert with one another, sharing each other’s work and finding inspiration and collaboration along the way, all facilitated by Wyoming Humanities. The Cohort includes online quarterly meetings, dedicated time to celebrate and promote each organization, a robust humanities program and events calendar, and numerous other opportunities for connection and growth among the Cohort.

“The arts help people understand the human condition,” said Travis. “The arts provide an avenue for creative expression and help keep heritage and culture alive – we are fortunate to be able to provide this to the people of Sweetwater County through the CFAC.”

The Community Fine Arts Center operates as a department of the Sweetwater County Library System. The CFAC, which is connected to the Rock Springs Library at 400 C Street, includes a gallery of artwork owned by Sweetwater County School District No. 1 and also provides art classes and events for the public.

The Sweetwater Library System provides resources and services for the people of Sweetwater County from its ten locations in the communities of Rock Springs, Bairoil, Farson, Granger, Reliance, Superior, and Wamsutter. For more information about the Sweetwater County Library, visit their website.
