This is the official website of the Wyoming State Library (WSL), and is maintained by the WSL webmaster. This website exists to provide information to the public about the resources and usage policies of the Wyoming State Library. The WSL provides this website under the following conditions. Information We Collect and How We Use It

Information You Provide
If you supply the WSL with a telephone number, email address, or mailing address, we’ll use it only to communicate with you about Wyoming state education issues and policies. If you no longer wish to receive email from the WSL, let us know by contacting us here. To unsubscribe from the WSL newsletter, please use the unsubscribe link in the bottom of the newsletter. We’ll honor your request as quickly as possible.

Correspondence and Content Submissions
If you submit a question, complaint, or praise for the WSL, by doing so you agree to release your correspondence to the WSL for possible posting on our website. If your correspondence is published by the WSL on its website, the WSL will include proper attribution to you as the source.

Legal Compliance
The WSL may release personal information as required by law.

Information Collected for Website Traffic Analysis
The WSL’s website identifies the IP address of all visitors. We use Google Analytics to measure website statistics and to collect information on the pages our visitors view and use; none of this information identifies a user personally. We collect this information to improve the user experience of our website.

Cookies
The WSL website uses cookies to record users’ session information, such as pages you visit and forms you submit. If your browser is set to reject cookies, our website may not function as intended.

Security

The WSL is committed to the security and confidentiality of personal information provided to us. However, the WSL does not warrant or guarantee the security or privacy of any information sent to us. In no event shall the State of Wyoming or the WSL be liable for incidental or consequential damages, lost profits, or lost data, or any indirect damages, even if the State of Wyoming and the WSL have been informed of the possibility thereof. Additionally, because email protocols are not secure, we ask that users never disclose sensitive information by email. The WSL is not responsible for loss/damage that results from unauthorized use by third parties of any information provided by email.

Comment and Posting Policy

The Wyoming State Library (WSL) uses social media to promote the library’s programs and resources and to facilitate communication with users. We treat our platforms as public forums and welcome discussion. We advise our participants to be considerate of differing opinions and encourage a family-friendly online environment. We will hide, delete, and/or report any comments, messages, and posts that go against our social media policy outlined below.

Our comment policy is enforced on all platforms where the WSL has a presence:

  • We do not allow profanity, obscenity, threats, or comments referencing acts of violence on any of our social media platforms; nor do we allow abusive, hateful, or defamatory comments or posts about any person or organization;
  • We do not allow comments suggesting or encouraging illegal activity, including but not limited to trademark and copyright violations;
  • Stay on topic, we will remove content that is clearly unrelated;
  • We do not allow solicitations or advertisements without prior approval from our outreach team. We will remove spam. We will remove content that involves political campaigning or lobbying;
  • We may remove content that contains personal information (your own or someone else’s), including home addresses, private phone numbers, or personal email addresses in order to protect privacy;
  • You are responsible for your participation on our social media presence, and by participating agree to our policy as well as the policies for the social media website and any federal, state, or local laws.

The WSL reserves the right to block users who do not comply with these standards. If you have concerns about this policy, please direct them to the Wyoming State Library at statelibrary@wyo.gov.

Sharing of other social media profiles, media, or websites does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of accuracy by the WSL.

Please be aware that all user-generated content is released into the public domain. If you are not willing to broadcast to the general public, please do not contribute content to our website or social media pages.
