Rock Springs Library Reference Librarian Ashley Will was one of 40 student members of the American Library Association selected to participate in the Student-to-Staff program at the 2016 ALA Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla. The conference will take place June 23 to 28.

Will is currently enrolled in the Master of Library Science program through Emporia State University. She has worked at Rock Springs Library since 2013 and previously worked as a substitute librarian for the Sweetwater County Library System.

“I am honored to be chosen to represent my school at the ALA Conference with this program,” Will said. “I am looking forward to meeting other library science students from across the country.”

Established in 1973, the Student-to-Staff program allows 40 students, both ALA members and members of their school’s ALA student chapter, to attend and participate in an annual conference in exchange for working 16 hours for ALA staff during the conference. These students also receive free conference registration, housing, and a per diem for meals.

Students are selected and nominated by their faculty advisors. Criteria include that each student must be a current ALA member and remain so through the ALA Annual Conference, and cannot have previously participated in the program.
