Teacher showing a boy how to use a digital tablet in class at elementary schoolGoWYLD has fantastic, reliable resources for students of all ages. You’ll find easy access to them by using the subject categories Kids K-8 or Student Research.

Within these are links to age appropriate databases, as well as tutorials, resource guides, and activities such as scavenger hunts that let students explore the database. The Student Research resources are organized by topic —  literature, history, social issues, countries & cultures — to make the right research resources easier to discover. You will also find added content for choosing a research topic, as well as skills improvement resources.

In addition to the general research databases, there are specialized resources such as Culturegrams, Opposing Viewpoints, and U.S. History (Gale In Context).

Students, and those that work with them, will find these databases easy to use. Results will include full text articles from magazines and journals, encyclopedias, news and newspapers, as well as photos and videos. Most articles can be translated into other languages or use the listen function.

GoWYLD resources are available for free at your library or from anywhere with a Wyoming library card and PIN. For more information about the databases, training, or marketing materials, contact Chris Van Burgh, Wyoming State Library Database Instruction Librarian, chris.vanburgh@wyo.gov.
