Brian Greene, WSL Library Development Office Manager
“Rejoice and be glad with me,
September 2nd (2025) is my last day with thee.
I do not seek sunsets to ride into,
Morning sun of new days will be my guide.”
These were the words Brian Greene, Wyoming State Library’s Library Development Office Manager used to announce his upcoming retirement following thirty-three years of dedicated service to the Wyoming State Library.
Brian joined the WSL team in March of 1992, serving as a member of the WYLD Support Office until 1996, then served as the WYLD Support Office Manager from 2000-2016. He has been serving as the Library Development Office Manager since 2016.
During his career, he enjoyed being what he calls “a librarian’s librarian,” serving on many committees and working with many organizations that support library professionals.
“One of the joys of my career was becoming a member of the McMurry Advisory Committee (MAC), a review committee of the Wyoming Community Foundation in 2016,” said Brian. This group reviews the library staff and libraries seeking McMurry Library Endowment support.”
Brian also enjoyed being a part of the WSL Internet Team that introduced the internet to libraries during the 1990s.
After his last day at the WSL, Brian’s short-term goals are to enjoy some rest and relaxation, downsize his tie collection, and reduce the contents of his house. He and his wife intend on remaining in Cheyenne, but will eventually move into a smaller home.
“I’ll be thinking about you as you continue to face many challenges,” said Brian to the Wyoming Library Community. “Let’s keep things moving onward and upward!”
