The solar eclipse is less than three scant weeks away, and eye safety is a must for observers. If you need them for your patrons, the State Library has eclipse glasses at the ready.
Wyoming libraries may request the glasses by mail or pick them up at the WSL booth at the Wyoming Library Association conference next week. (Added note: today is the last day to register for the conference.) To request glasses for your library, contact Chris Van Burgh at chris.vanburgh@wyo.gov or (307) 777-3642.
State employees are also welcome to stop by our office at 2800 Central Avenue in Cheyenne to pick up a pair or contact Chris to request them. Please feel free to print our solar eclipse flyer to hang in your office and let your coworkers know.
The Wyoming State Library has several resources for libraries to learn more and promote the event in their own communities:
- A ready to print flyer showing the eclipse path both for this year, and for the one in 1918.
- Our Wyoming and the Solar Eclipse 2017 LibGuide.
- Our recently archived webinar, Get Ready for the Eclipse!
With the path of totality sweeping across so much of the state, Wyoming residents and visitors should have a great view. Make the most of this once in a lifetime event!
