FCC Makes $200 Million Available to Enhance Cybersecurity

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is now accepting applications for Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program. Funding from this unique opportunity is provided by a the Universal Service Fund, which is a pool of money compiled from telecommunication companies’ contributions. Selected schools and libraries will be able to use this money for reimbursement on firewalls, identity protection and authentication services, malware protection, and VPNs to enhance their cybersecurity and protect their students, staff, and patrons from cybersecurity threats. This program is available to both rural and urban schools and libraries eligible for the FCC’s E-rate program. Priority will be given to funding projects from low-income and Tribal applicants.
