DeMarge Tolliver

February is National Black History Month!  The Wyoming State Library GoWYLD’s “African-American History in Wyoming” LibGuide has a wealth of resources on pioneers, cowboys, military service, civil rights, prominent historical figures, and community organizations.

For example, patrons can read about DeMarge Tolliver who was the first Black child on record to have been born in Wyoming Territory.  Or, find out more about Empire, Wyoming, an all-Black community that was located 10 miles northeast of Torrington, Wyoming.  A blbliography of additional reading materials is also available in the LibGuide to help librarians and patrons find even more information resources.

How will your library celebrate National Black History Month?
