October is Health Literacy Month, and you can find several consumer health resources listed under Health & Medicine on GoWYLD.net.
One, MedlinePlus, provided by the National Library of Medicine, makes up-to-date consumer health information easy to access and easy to read. Categories of information include Health Topics, Drugs & Supplements, Genetics, and Medical Tests. There is also a collection of videos and health check tools. You can toggle between English and Spanish for all of these pages.
Each topic page includes a basic summary, a learn more section, research articles and links, and information for adults and kids.
Within MedlinePlus there are also links for easy- to-read health information, recipes, a medical encyclopedia, health care directories and health information in multiple languages.
MedLine Plus and PubMed are freely available. Other great GoWYLD Health & Medicine licensed resources from EBSCO, Gale, and Proquest are available free at Wyoming libraries or from anywhere using your Wyoming library card and PIN.
