Super Searchers Program Super Searchers for Library Workers (ALA/Public Library Association)
The ease with which misinformation can be created and spread online endangers everyday discourse—and libraries are uniquely suited to help counteract its negative effects. Using research developed at University of Washington, Google has created a new set of tools for evaluating material found online, making it easier to think critically about the veracity of digital information right at the point of search. In this interactive presentation, library consultant Toby Greenwalt will demonstrate the capabilities of Super Searchers and showcase potential applications in the library workspace.

Reducing Burnout for Academic Library Workers who have Complicated Lives (AKA: Everybody) (Niche Academy)
Jessica Lee, Mike Holt, and Robert Griggs-Taylor have researched the experience of parents and burnout. But they recognize that everyone has complicated lives. Individual practices that alleviate and reduce burnout are to everyone’s benefit, including parents of minor children. In this presentation, they will reach into their survey data and examine the interventions used to prevent burnout, along with institutional measures that respondents felt would make positive impacts on their immediate lives.

Thursday, Nov 30 (3-4 pm)
Diffuse the situation: Using conversation to build empathy and trust with the public (Alliance Research and Training)
