Introduction to Wikidata for Librarians (OCLC Research)
Wikidata is a free and open knowledge base that can be read and edited by both humans and machines. Wikidata acts as central storage for the structured data of its Wikimedia sister projects including Wikipedia. Beyond Wikimedia projects, Wikidata also provides support to many other sites and services, including the Google Knowledge Graph. It is also relevant to many developing and emerging projects in the library descriptive landscape. In our linked data future, Wikidata may play an important role as a place to find and store metadata and identifiers. This webinar will be of interest to metadata libraries, digital library developers, those interested in linked data and identifiers, and those tracking emerging trends in librarianship.
