Outside the Lines (OTL) is a week-long celebration to reconnect patrons with the creativity, technology, discovery and all of the fun and unexpected experiences happening in libraries today.

For one OTL activity, Riverton Branch Library, part of the Fremont County Library System, had tweens get out and about in the community and take short videos using the library’s GoPro and Mini Polaroid. This new equipment is part of their “maker space.”

Part of Outside the Lines is encouraging libraries to get outside their walls and reach out to their communities in innovative ways. With that in mind, Riverton Branch Library staff headed over to Central Wyoming College with a booth promoting their services with specially designed bookmarks for college students.

The laminated bookmark was an “artsy” square that said, “Protect yourself With A Library Card: Information at Your Fingertips.” Attached to the back was a packaged condom from the local public health department. The students also got a chance to win a Starbucks coffee by answering a pop culture trivia question. The library had cool new movies, music, and graphic novels displayed.

Check out the student reactions to the bookmark in the YouTube video below.
