Get Started in GoWYLD with Niche Academy Tutorials

Mar 7, 2024

Niche Academy logoGoWYLD offers numerous online resources available to every resident in Wyoming — everything from encyclopedias to auto repair manuals. So what’s the best way to get started? For those just exploring GoWYLD who’d like a little direction before plowing in, the Wyoming State Library subscribes to Niche Academy video tutorials.

These point-of-need tutorials provide quick start guides to more than 30 GoWYLD resources. These include research databases such as the Gale In Context suite and CQ Researcher. More videos cover GoWYLD electronic resources for legal forms, early literacy, language learning, e-books, e-audiobooks, and more.

Click the Tutorials tab on the far right of GoWYLD’s homepage to access Niche Academy or find them at my.nicheacademy.com/gowyld. They’re also linked within GoWYLD subject pages. Access GoWYLD licensed resources at local libraries or log in from any computer or device with a Wyoming library card and PIN.

Niche Academy’s Founder & CEO, Jeromy Wilson, began the company in 2013, with one of the goals being to increase usage of the growing number of online resources. He recruited the help of former Dynix co-worker Jared Oates. He also brought his dad Jim Wilson, a Wyoming resident, on board. Jim had helped start Dynix, a company responsible for the software system that replaced library card catalogs. (Dynix merged with Sirsi to form SirsiDynix in 2005.) Read about their team here.

For more information on this and other GoWYLD resources, contact your local library or Paige Bredenkamp, eResources and School Library Consultant, paige.bredenkamp@wyo.gov.
