GoWYLD Offers Great Resources for Wyoming History Day

Mar 6, 2017

Students in grades 6-12 throughout the state are getting ready for Wyoming History Day. Throughout March, regional events are taking place to select the students who will compete at the state level April 9-10. National competition will take place June 11-15. This year’s theme is “Taking a Stand in History.”

History Day offers an opportunity for students to go beyond mere facts and dates. Instead,  drill down into historical content and explore primary and scholarly sources to develop perspective and understanding. Students produce dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, and research papers based on their research related to this year’s theme, “Taking a Stand in History.”

GoWYLD.net is a great place to start for students researching Wyoming History Day projects. The Wyoming State Library has created a research guide that includes topic suggestions, handouts, links to primary sources, and guides and tutorials to many of the databases available in GoWYLD. Check it out to learn more about History Day.
