Great Stories Club:  “Nature vs. Nurture: Origins of Teen Violence and Suicide.”
Deadline: Dec. 30, 2016
The Great Stories Club (GSC) gives underserved youth facing significant challenges the opportunity to read, reflect, and share ideas on topics that resonate with them. Libraries selected to participate in the Great Stories Club receive 11 copies of three theme-related books to use in reading and discussion groups of 6 to 10 young adults; a variety of programming support materials; and online or in-person training. All types of U.S. libraries located within or working in partnership with an organization that serves at-risk youth are eligible to apply.

NEA Big Read
Deadline: Jan. 26, 2017

Approximately 75 organizations in communities of varying sizes across the country will be selected to participate in NEA Big Read from September 2017 through June 2018. Big Read supports community reading programs around an NEA Big Read title selected from 28 choices. Libraries are listed among eligible applicants. A public webinar about the NEA Big Read will be held Nov. 16, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. MT. Register online in advance. The webinar will also be available as an archive afterward.

Romance Writers of America Library Grant
Deadline: Dec. 5, 2016
This grant is designed to provide a public library of any size the opportunity to build or expand its romance fiction collection and/or host romance fiction programming. The $4,500 grant can be used toward the purchase of romance fiction, author honorariums and travel expenses, and other applicable program expenses.

Jan Merrill-Oldham Professional Development Grant
Deadline: Dec. 1, 2016
The Preservation and Reformatting Section of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services created this annual grant to honor the career of Jan Merrill-Oldham, a distinguished author and leader in the field. This award allows for librarians with 5 or fewer years of experience in the field to attend the American Library Association Annual Conference. The award is a $1,250 cash grant to be used toward registration fees, airfare, and lodging.
