Here’s how to access the Wyoming State Library’s (WSL) many resources related to Wyoming history:

  • After navigating to GoWYLD, locate the scrolling menu to the right of the screen titled, “Databases: Subject Areas.”
  • Scroll to and select “History.”
  • On the left of the screen, select “Wyoming History.”
  • From this page, you can navigate through the WSL’s many collections, exhibits, and guides devoted to the history of Wyoming, as well as find information about the local history of several Wyoming communities.

If you’re curious about the many fascinating places in Wyoming, the Wyoming Places Calendar is a resource rich with historical and geographical information. You can read more about the Wyoming Place Calendar in this blog post.

The WSL’s “Women’s Suffrage in Wyoming” subject guide is a great place to find information on the countless “firsts” in history made by Wyoming women, including the first female Justice of the Peace in the U.S., the first female bailiff in the U.S., the first women to serve on a jury, and the first general election in which women voted–all in the year 1870.

Celebrate our great state by learning about it’s breathtaking geography and captivating history, including the ground-breaking women in Wyoming’s history, during 307 Day and National Women’s History Month!
