Young woman with notebook and pen looking at laptop computerNovember 20 is Future Teachers of America Day. Practice tests and career information for our future teachers can be found in Learning Express Library, a GoWYLD.net resource. Find it under Tests & Skills Preparation or alphabetically by title.

Learning Express Library is an interactive platform of practice tests and tutorials designed to help students and adult learners succeed on many common academic and licensing tests. It also includes Job and Career Accelerator and the Computer Skills Center.

Using the search box on the main page, a search for “teacher” will result in Career Snapshots for Preschool Teacher, Secondary and Middle School Teacher, and Special Education Teacher as well as Best Careers for Teachers. These items are not practice tests, but informational articles on careers.

A search for Praxis results in 59 practice Praxis tests that include Praxis Mathematics, Praxis Elementary Education, Praxis Elementary Science, Praxis Social Studies, and Praxis Core Writing. Praxis measures the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for the classroom, including the Core tests used for entrance into educator programs.

In Learning Express Library, each person will need to create a login to access tests and tutorials. This will allow students to save their work in progress, score reports, and revisit any practice tests, tutorials, or e-books. Registration only requires a valid email address and a password.

In addition, from the main page, select College Students for college placement preparation, tutorials on college success, and finding tools for schools and scholarships.

To learn more about Learning Express Library, go to the Tutorials link on the far right of GoWYLD.net.

Future teachers may also be interested in research resources on GoWYLD, such as Educator’s Reference Complete and Teacher Reference Center, under subject Education.

All these resources are available for free from your library or, using your Wyoming library card and PIN, from your personal computer or mobile device. For more information, about the databases, training, or marketing materials, contact Chris Van Burgh, Wyoming State Library Database Instruction Librarian, chris.vanburgh@wyo.gov.
