Lovell Branch Library on Wyoming Snapshot Day 2023
Wyoming libraries are busy, serving their communities day in and day out. Our Snapshot Day tally tells the story of how our libraries are used, both physically and electronically.
WYLD libraries
On Snapshot Day, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Wyoming’s more than 100 WYLD libraries:
- Circulated 11,965 items, including 4,855 children’s items
- Issued 99 new library cards
- Added 584 items to their catalogs
- Made 3,196,729 items available to Wyoming’s residents in their collections
- Saw the WYLDcat statewide library catalog accessed by 2,516 users for 19,592 views and 18,712 searches
WYLD includes all Wyoming public and community college libraries as well as many school and special libraries.
Public libraries
In Wyoming’s 23 public library systems, from data collected annually by the Wyoming State Library, we estimate that on an average day there are:
- 5,095 visits to public libraries
- 578 people using a library computer
- 1,029 reference questions answered
- 599 children and teens attending programs
- 41 meeting room uses
- 694 wireless internet sessions
GoWYLD.net
The GoWYLD.net electronic resources offer articles, e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines (including graphic novels!), scholarly sources, courses and tutorials, and much more. These are available to every Wyoming resident, 24 hours a day. On October 24, there were:
- 286 visits to the GoWYLD.net A to Z databases list with 784 total views of the GoWYLD LibGuides — 55 different guides were accessed
- 3,680 total digital checkouts by 2,593 unique users in the OverDrive/Libby Wyoming Virtual Library — 1,314 e-books, 1,869 e-audiobooks, and 497 e-magazines
- 231 sessions and 1,419 pages viewed in CultureGrams
- 4,485 sessions, 16,160 searches, and 1,055 retrievals in the Gale Databases
- 105 visits from 76 unique visitors in Driving-tests.org
- 10 logins and 9 quizzes taken in Pronunciator Language Learning
- LinkedIn Learning – 1.8 hours of LinkedIn Learning content viewed by 11 people who accessed 20 different courses using 53 videos
