Shantry Miller, WSL Federal Documents Librarian
If you’ve checked out the Wyoming State Library staff page recently, you may have noticed a change. A familiar face has recently joined the Information Services Team at the Wyoming State Library as Shantry Miller is now the WSL’s new Federal Documents Librarian. Shantry joined the WSL team four years ago as the Bibliographic Services Librarian for the WYLD Support Team and has enjoyed her time there, but is ready to dive in to the world of federal documents with enthusiasm.
“I’m very excited about my new position,” said Shantry. “I’m looking forward to becoming more knowledgeable about our collection here at the State Library.”
Shantry brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. Prior to working at the WSL, Shantry worked as a Technical Services Librarian for a nursing and health sciences college for four years, as well as working part-time in public libraries in high school and college. She also taught high school Spanish for four years after she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with education endorsements from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. In addition to her B.A., Shantry also holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
As the new Federal Documents Librarian, Shantry is in charge of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). The WSL is one of Wyoming’s federal depository libraries, which means it receives, catalogs, and curates federal documents such as congressional bills, laws, regulations, presidential documents, studies, and other documents on a variety of topics, making them available to State of Wyoming employees, Wyoming legislators, and other Wyoming residents who may need them.
“We’re thrilled to have Shantry join our team!” said Travis Pollok, WSL Information Services Manager. “She brings great cataloging and training experience to our team. I am looking forward to how her skills and interests will bring new opportunities to the position.”
Shantry’s last day as the Bibliographic Services Librarian was Friday, August 15 and she began her new role on Monday, August 18.
