The relationship between the State of Wyoming and the Wind River Reservation has a long and complex history. While the Arapahoe and Shoshone Nations maintain federally recognized Tribal Sovereignty, the Reservation intersects with many state agencies. Having adjacent jurisdictions, coordination between Wyoming state government agencies and the Reservation is essential.
This cooperation can be seen in a number of state publications found in the State Publications Database. One example is the Wyoming Gray Wolf Monitoring and Management 2017 Annual Report. For this report, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department worked in cooperation with The Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribal Fish and Game Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Lander Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office.
