As the school year is winding down, it’s time to start planning summer activities. Many librarians may have travel plans…yea! Interested in taking a few books with you on your trip? Try 3M Cloud Library or Freading. Digital magazines are available from Zinio, and audiobooks can be downloaded-for free- from One Click Digital. All are available on GoWYLD.net for free to Wyoming residents with their library card.

Special events happening nearby are the Jackson Hole Mini Maker Faire on May 21, 2016, and the Makerbot Makeathon in Denver on June 25, 2016. Both events focus on “making” and allow for hands-on exploring of 3D printers, robotics and other STEM-related resources.

For a summertime network opportunity, Information Power Summer Institute 2016 will be happening in Casper, Wyoming on August 1-3. Come meet up with other teacher librarians and library staff to exchange ideas, share stories, and get great information to take back to your school.

These are a few summertime opportunities for school librarians, not as obligations, but fun things that easily translate into learning opportunities for students when school starts back up in the fall.
