Erikson Institute logoAubry Ellis, Youth Services and Interlibrary Loan Librarian at Riverton Branch Library, and Robin Levin, Head Librarian at Fort Washakie School and Community Library, were selected to participate in the Erikson Institute TEC (Technology in Early Childhood) Center’s first ever training on Media Literacy in Early Childhood for Youth Library Staff.

The goal of this training is to empower Youth Service Librarians to see themselves as guides in implementing media literacy in early childhood. At the end of this program, librarians will be able to offer a set of lifelong skills in media use that will not only encourage children and families to learn how to evaluate media critically, but also to develop skills on using media for creating and taking action.

This national professional development program is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. To learn more about this grant, visit the IMLS project webpage. The program is part of a three-cohort pilot to help develop online professional development that will be launched nationally in 2024.
