Thanks to the University of Wyoming Libraries, Wyomingites now have access to HeritageQuest Online on GoWYLD.net. This resource provides genealogical and historical sources for more than 60 countries, with coverage dating back as early as the 1700s.

Databases include U.S. and Canada Census records, U.S. Freedman’s Bank Records. You can also search city directories, immigration records and specific military records.

ProQuest provides links to research aids such as Getting Started and Beyond the Basics, and tips on searching census records. Manipulate a U.S. map through the decades, beginning in 1790 and up through 1920, to determine state and county boundaries as you search for locations of relatives.

When you select Genealogy under subjects on GoWYLD.net, you will find the link to HeritageQuest and other genealogy databases, as well as links to tutorials and guides.

For access from home, you will need your Wyoming library card number and PIN. For help with this or any other GoWYLD.net resource, contact your local library or contact Chris Van Burgh, Wyoming State Library Database Instruction Librarian, at chris.vanburgh@wyo.gov.
