WSL Closed on Labor Day

Sep 1, 2021

The Wyoming State Library will be closed on Monday, September 6 for Labor Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, September 7. If you’re curious about the origins of the holiday, the U.S. Department of Labor offers a brief history.

There are many references to the early history of labor in this state in Wyoming Newspapers. In fact, this digital collection contains issues of the Wyoming Labor Journal from 1917 to 1927 (incomplete). The Journal was owned by organized labor. This proclamation from Wyoming Governor Frank C. Emerson was on the front page of the September 2, 1927 issue — click for larger image.
