WSL to Receive CARES Act Funding

Apr 14, 2020

CARES Act funding for libraries is starting to roll out. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is giving $30 million of the $50 million CARES Act library allocation directly to State Libraries based on population.

The Wyoming State Library will receive $52,297. The funds can be used “to address digital inclusion” or “other efforts that prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.” IMLS should be issuing further guidance to better define these categories in the coming weeks.

The WSL is currently forming a committee of a small group of library directors to help determine how these funds will be expended. Questions about federal funding may be directed to Jamie Markus, Wyoming State Librarian, at jamie.markus@wyo.gov or (307) 777-5914.

Please don’t forget about Wyoming Museums!!! These funds are for libraries, museums, and related organizations.

Absolutely! The committee will include at least one member from the museum community.
