WSL to Receive CARES Act Funding

Apr 14, 2020

CARES Act funding for libraries is starting to roll out. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is giving $30 million of the $50 million CARES Act library allocation directly to State Libraries based on population.

The Wyoming State Library will receive $52,297. The funds can be used “to address digital inclusion” or “other efforts that prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.” IMLS should be issuing further guidance to better define these categories in the coming weeks.

The WSL is currently forming a committee of a small group of library directors to help determine how these funds will be expended. Questions about federal funding may be directed to Jamie Markus, Wyoming State Librarian, at or (307) 777-5914.
