Free Online Libraries and Veterans Toolkit Available

Nov 12, 2024

November 11 was Veterans Day, a day set aside to recognize, celebrate, and remember those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. A huge “thank you” to all who have served! Libraries are in a unique position to provide services and resources to all members of the community, including veterans.

The Libraries and Veterans National Forum’s website includes a free online Libraries and Veterans Toolkit to help libraries plan programming for their patrons who are veterans. The toolkit contains lesson plans, program outlines, collection development policies, best practice documents, and more to help libraries interested or already engaged in providing resources and programming for the veteran population. It is browsable by library type, resources, type, programming, audience, and topic, and also includes an extensive bibliography of additional resources.

This helpful resource was born out of efforts of the Texas A&M University Libraries and was funded in part by the Institute of Museums and Library Services. Check out the information and resources in the toolkit, or submit additional resources that could be beneficial to other library professionals.
