Father and daughter having fun while cooking in kitchen togetherExplora Primary, a resource for K-5 in GoWYLD.net, can help you find ways to celebrate National Nutrition Month with your kids. In it you will find magazine articles, encyclopedia references, images, and video. You will want to use the Lexile scores to help students narrow the content level, as even though this is for K-5, there is a broad range of reading levels. Click on the topic Science & Health and then select nutrition.

Of special interest are the Get-Into-It-Guides. In particular, Get Into Smart Snacks. Here you will find everything from ants on a log and trail mix to recipes for energy balls, wraps, and sweet potato bean burrito. We’ll be checking out the recipe for Sweet & Spicy Chipotle Nuts. Kids and adults will enjoy the variety of ideas, clear instructions, and focus on good nutrition. You can choose to view or download the full e-book or click the table of contents to select a section.

Other Get-Into-It-Guides include Smoothies, Yoga, Photography, Mixed Media, Citizen Science, Wow-Factor Science, Magic, Chess, Knitting, and Mine Craft. You can access these by clicking on Get-Into-It-Guides, when you have selected the Smart Snacks in the results list. Or launch a new search.
