Nine days remain to submit applications for the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ fiscal year 2027 discretionary grants.
IMLS grants are designed to support museums, libraries, archives and related organizations as they strengthen the workforce, and preserve America’s rich cultural and natural resources, expand educational opportunities and conduct other critical work in their communities.
Institutions in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., U.S. territories and freely associated states are encouraged to apply by Nov. 13, 2026.
For organizations already preparing an application, now is the time to complete final revisions, confirm that all required materials are included and prepare for submission. Applicants should review the applicable Notice of Funding Opportunity carefully to ensure their applications address all program requirements.
Applicants should have already confirmed that their SAM.gov accounts are active and functioning properly and that they have the necessary access to complete the application process. Addressing account or registration issues before the final days of the application period can help avoid last-minute complications.
Senior program officers are available to support applicants in addressing issues that may arise during the submission process. Their information can be found through the IMLS program landing pages.
