Melissa Snider of Jackson, WY, was featured in JHStyle Magazine for her exceptional work as a school librarian and media specialist at Munger Mountain Elementary School. A native of Jackson, Melissa was hired after graduating from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in English and Simmons College with a master’s degree in Library and Information Science with an emphasis in school librarianship.
Melissa appreciates that her job is continually evolving with the rapid and dynamic growth of technology. In addition to making sure the library is stocked with relevant and up-to-date resources for teachers and students, she teaches her young patrons, who range from kindergarten to fifth grade, to access and evaluate information in both print and digital forms. “In our current age of technology and innovation, students need to be able to think on their feet,” said Melissa. “They need to be able to evaluate; they need to think critically.”
