International Children’s Picture Book Day is celebrated annually on April 2, and celebrates how important children’s literature is to the world as a whole.
The first picture book, “Orbis Sensualium Pictus”, or “Visible World in Pictures” is thought to have been published in 1658 by Johann Amos Comenius, according to the U.S. Library of Congress. Read more about this pivotal historical artifact here.
