The goal of authority control is to improve precision and recall in searching so that researchers can retrieve all the results for a particular author, title, or subject, without including anything unrelated. This video tutorial, Introduction to Authority Control, is an introduction to the terms and concepts associated with authority control. It describes the relationship between authority control, descriptive cataloging, and classification, and discusses the role of authority control in the modern computing age.

The Science of Reading and the Power of Talking-Early literacy is the cornerstone of educational development, with significant implications for a child’s academic success and lifelong learning. The foundations of reading and literacy skills begin long before children enter formal schooling. A critical component in this process is talking in early childhood. This blog reviews components of the Science of Reading and concentrates on how talking to and with young children is an important tool in early literacy.
