We thought we’d take this opportunity to highlight access to free computer courses in two resources: LinkedIn Learning and Computer Skills Center. Find both under our Test & Skills Preparation subject area.

LinkedIn Learning

Access LinkedIn Learning with your library card number and PIN. Click on Browse and then Technology. Here you will find Software Development (including programming languages, game development), Network & System Administration, Security, Web Development and more. There are courses for kids and adults.

In addition to the Browse function, there is also a search box. For example, a search for “computer programming for kids” brings up courses such as Programming for Kids and Computer Science Principles: Programming. Also, educators can find courses on Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and OneNote, and more.

Computer Skills Center

Computer Skills Center provides courses to learn the basics of computers, from exploring social media to using popular programs for word processing, creating spreadsheets, implementing design, and more. You’ll need to create a login to view and take courses. This will let you save work in progress, store score reports, and revisit any practice tests, tutorials, or e-books. Video courses run from about 30 minutes to 6 hours.

GoWYLD resources are available for free to all Wyoming residents from local libraries or from any computer or mobile device with a Wyoming library card number and PIN. For more information about the databases, training, or marketing materials, contact Chris Van Burgh, Wyoming State Library Database Instruction Librarian,
