EPA Offers New Community Library Program

Oct 7, 2024

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Denver Office Region 8’s Healthy Schools team has launched a new Community Library Program to work with community libraries in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

A one-page summary is available to help you envision what joining the program look like. The Healthy Schools team has an extensive inventory of indoor air quality, healthy schools, healthy homes, children’s environmental health and other environmental education materials available to share with you. You can build your own EPA resource inventory by choosing what your community needs from their extensive list of educational resources. Once selected, hard copies of these resources will be mailed to you. Your library will then be able to offer, and distribute, high-quality EPA educational resources to individuals and schools in your community, either as take-home materials or as available for checkout.

Participation in this program is entirely free of charge. Committed partners will have additional opportunities to schedule EPA guest speakers, set up indoor and outdoor air monitoring, and participate in EPA’s Air Quality Flag Program as well.

If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Kim Bartels at bartels.kim@epa.gov or Amanda Hong at hong.amanda@epa.gov. They will invite you to a virtual meeting to discuss the available resources and answer any questions you may have.
