LEAD Mentoring Program – Applications Open for January–June 2027

Oct 28, 2026

Would you benefit from guidance in your library career? Are you wondering how to become more effective in your library work? Are you motivated to help others grow in their library careers?

Wyoming Library Association’s (WLA) Leadership Excellence and Development Interest Group (LEAD) invites you to participate in the Mentoring Program! LEAD facilitates the Mentoring Program as a key avenue of fostering professional development among Wyoming’s library staff.

The next session of Mentor/Mentee partnerships is January–June 2027. The application may be accessed here: Mentor Program Application, and the submission due date is Friday, November 13, 2026.

Areas of professional and personal growth include library education opportunities, interpersonal skills, time management, program planning, project management, stress management, and dealing with burnout.

In pairing a mentee, also known as a “protégé,” with a mentor, also known as a “coach,” the development goal is individualized for the mentee according to the interests and needs expressed in the application. A mentor is chosen who might best provide support and encouragement for that mentee’s particular need.

Seasoned, experienced staff are encouraged to apply as mentors. Do you have a specific area of expertise or a boatload of experience in some aspect of the library world? Please consider sharing what you’ve learned by serving as a mentor!

LEAD requests a minimum commitment of meeting once per month from January to June from both mentees and mentors. Resources will be provided to assist participants in a meaningful mentoring experience.
