From the heart of Big Horn County, Cathy Collins is proving that you don’t need a massive budget to create a massive impact. As the Branch Manager at the Lovell Branch Library, Cathy has dedicated 13 years to serving her community, driven by a simple but powerful philosophy: She loves the public and the activities that bring them together.
Cathy recently spearheaded a high-energy program titled Winter Minute To Win It Games, specifically designed to engage the elementary age group (5-11 years old). The event turned out to be a crowd-pleaser, drawing 28 patrons who, in Cathy’s words, “had a great time.”
“It is hard to pick just one thing I love about my job. Activities are at the top of the list. I love working with the public.”
What makes this program a standout is its accessibility. The funding was at a minimum cost and was entirely funded by patron donations. To spread the word, Cathy utilized the Library’s Facebook Page, website, and physical calendar. The program was a hit!
“We did run out of time to do everything I had planned. I would have fewer games.”
For Cathy, the best part of the job isn’t just the day-to-day operations—it’s the magic of programming. While she has “no immediate plans to repeat” this specific event, she believes the format is “worth considering doing another activity similar to this one” because of how well it was received.
