The Sheridan County Library Board of Trustees announced in March that Michelle Havenga is serving as the Interim Library Director for the Sheridan County Public Library System.  Havenga took the place of Cameron Duff who left the library system after more than 12 years of service. Michelle worked as a children’s librarian for 40 years with the Sheridan County Library before her retirement in August 2021.  Her appointment became effective April 3, 2023 and could last for up to four months while the Board of Trustees conducts a national search for a permanent library director. (See job announcement.)

The Board of Trustees, in a media release, thanked Havenga for her willingness to assist the library during the transition period, and added that Havenga has the knowledge and experience necessary to make an immediate positive impact with staff and customers of the library.
