Park County Library Hosts Summer Reading Kickoff “Mess-tival”

Aug 1, 2025

Messes of these proportions are best made outside.

Park County kids kicked off summer at the Cody Library by getting more than a little messy.

Summer weather is perfect for drying colorful t-shirts!

The library provided the outdoor space and painting supplies needed to be truly creative, while Cody dentists donated the 500 white “Color Our World” t-shirts. Kids were invited to come to the library’s outdoor space right after school on the last day of school to decorate their shirts—with WATER GUNS filled with tie dye powder-colored water!

Blue skies and colorful mess-making gave Park County kids big smiles.

“Perfect weather helped make it a truly fun start to a colorful summer!” said Holly Baker, Park County Library Children’s Librarian.

The results of this successful event were unique colorful shirts, lots of fun, and kids excited about summer reading.

Along with the main library in Cody, the Park County Library also has branch locations in Meeteetsee and Powell. All locations host programs and events for patrons of all ages. Find out more about upcoming events on the Park County Library website.
