On September 11, surrounded by library staff and other members of the community, Lindsey Travis, director of the Sweetwater County Library System (SCLS), used an oversized pair of scissors to cut a ribbon spanning the stage at the front of the Sweetwater County Library’s new meeting room, marking an important milestone in the library’s system’s greater construction project. The SCLS received a subgrant through the Wyoming Library Multi-Purpose Community Facility Program (WLMCFP) in December of 2023 during the first round of awards.

Library staff, board members, and community members attended the event.

“We are thankful for the grant funding for this project and to the Wyoming State Library for overseeing the grants,” said Lindsey. “The spaces at the Rock Springs Library and White Mountain Library are still under construction, but we anticipate that they will be complete this fall.”

The newly updated meeting room at the Sweetwater County Library in Rock Springs will provide a modern and enjoyable place to gather.

Paige Bredenkamp, WSL School Library and eResources Consultant and a member of the WSL’s WLMCFP team, attended the festive celebration, representing the WSL.

“The Sweetwater County Library’s new meeting room looks great,” said Paige. “The space is welcoming and inviting, and it will be a place people in the community will enjoy being in and using for meetings and other events.”
