After almost 8 years serving the Wyoming State Library, Tekla Slider will be leaving to explore new career opportunities.

Tekla joined the State Library in October 2015 as the Federal Documents Librarian after having worked for the Laramie County Library and the F.E. Warren Air Force Base Library.

“Tekla has been a valuable member of the State Library team,” Information Services Manager Abby Beaver said, “Her talent at researching unique reference questions and her care of helping our patrons will be missed. We wish Tekla well in her future endeavors!”

And answering reference questions is her favorite aspect of her job. “I have helped a variety of patrons including a man living in Kentucky, a librarian at the Library of Congress, and an intern working with a state agency. Collaborating with other library staff helps all of us become better librarians and researchers as we discover new resources to answer reference questions,” Tekla said.

Asked what accomplishment that she was most proud of, she responded, “My work with the Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources (WATR) office to create Assistive Technology toolkits for libraries around the state is one experience that I will forever cherish. The toolkits and our presentations at WLA were opportunities to promote programs and services to Wyoming residents with disabilities.”

She added, “I will miss being a part of the library community. I have made many friends and memories during my 22 years in this profession”.
