The WSL Adds Two New Resources from Gale in Context

Sep 3, 2025

Now is the perfect time to check out the Gale in Context resources on GoWYLD—the Wyoming State Library has added Gale in Context Middle School and Gale in Context High School!

Both resources can be found among the other Gale in Context resources on GoWYLD, which include Biographies, U.S. History, World History, Global Issues, and more. Let’s zoom in on the Gale in Context Middle School and High School databases!

Gale in Context Middle School includes over 300 topical pages that provide content that supports the national and state curriculum standards for grades 6 to 8 in English language arts, social studies, and science. The informational text is written specifically for middle school students and covers everything from historical people, places, and events to contemporary issues such as screen time and fast fashion. Students can research biographical information on both historical and contemporary people of interest or find out more about famous literary works or science concepts. This extensive database helps enrich the topics students are learning about in class and provides current and reliable information on the subjects they want to know more about.

Gale in Context High School provides hundreds of thousands of topic overviews, primary sources, biographies, and critical essays on topics and multimedia resources including images, maps, video and audio clips, and more. Like Gale in Context Middle School, Gale in Context High School has information on a wealth of relevant topics in science, history, literature, and more. All content is aligned to National Standards and Common Core State Standards, and gives high school students the opportunity to develop important skills such as problem solving and critical thinking.

All of the Gale in Context resources, including Gale in Context Middle School and Gale in Context High School, feature a variety of text and formats, including nonfiction, informational text, books, images, audio, video, newspapers, primary sources, and more. Students can easily cite information they utilize in their work using whichever style is required for their assignment (MLA, APA, Chicago, or Harvard) and can organize, save, and share highlights and annotations within the content they are reading. These databases also have on-demand article translation to over 50 languages and ReadSpeaker text-to-speech technology into more than 20 languages.

Tutorials for both of these resources are available from Niche Academy, another valuable resource provided by the WSL, using the following links:
