Washakie County Library’s Worland location’s construction project is well underway. The project’s main objective is expanding the children’s section of the library to create a multi-purpose space in the children’s area. The space will include additional classrooms, a tiered seating area, a dedicated toddler area, and an enlarged makerspace discovery area.
Karen Funk, Washakie County Library System Director, shared the following words regarding the project’s progress:
“As the children’s addition to the Washakie County Library comes to life, we pause to consider how we are forming the future. Cement block by cement block, we are creating the foundation of a building. But we are also reinforcing the foundation of our community’s young readers and their families. We are transforming this space into a library area that will be used for story-times, workshops, group activities and programs. There will be easier access to materials and we will include an area for children to develop their technology skills and a quiet area to get lost in a book. We look forward to enhancing our patron’s library experience with this construction project. We are not just a drop off place for books, we are a destination in our community.”
