Western Wyoming College Director of Academic Research and Learning Innovation Heidi Rubich

Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs recently welcomed Heidi Rubich as their new Director of Academic Resources and Learning Innovation.

Heidi’s education and experience in secondary education and history has prepared her well for this position. She earned a B.A. in history education and an M.A. in history from Montana State University and holds National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in social studies.

“I taught high school social studies and career and technical education for 21 years,” said Heidi. “I am a military spouse, so I have taught in Texas, Kentucky, and Wyoming. I love teaching and education, but I was ready for a change from being a classroom teacher. This position combines many of the things that I love – student support, educator support, and library services.”

Heidi has found many strengths in the library staff at WWC’s Hay Library, including their wealth of knowledge in each of their varied sets of expertise, prioritization of students and staff, teamwork, and willingness to help patrons. Moving forward, Heidi plans to continue building on the strong work that the library staff have already done.

“I would like to continue serving patrons in the best ways we can and also aim to encourage even more use of our library services,” said Heidi.

Heidi describes Jon Harwood, Sarah Smith, and Rhonda Wright as “true lifesavers” and is grateful for their grace as she learns the ins and outs of her new role and for their willingness to share their expertise.

“I am incredibly proud to be a part of our library team,” said Heidi.
