Two books, A Sometimes Paradise: Reflections on Life in a Wyoming Ranch Family by Mark E. Miller, a book for adults, and A Home for Steamboat by Casey Rislov and Zachary Pullen, a book for children, have been selected to represent Wyoming at the National Book Festival’s Great Reads from Great Places, which will take place in Washington, D.C. on September 6.
Great Reads from Great Places is a nationwide program that features two books to represent each state at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC. Wyoming selects one adult book and one young adult/children’s book that speaks to the state of Wyoming. Visitors to the National Book Festival have the opportunity to see the books, ask questions, and interact with representatives from Wyoming. This year, both of the books selected were written and illustrated by Wyomingites, so participants are sure to get perspectives truly representative of our state.
The selection of these books is overseen by the Wyoming Center for the Book, a Library of Congress affiliated program of Wyoming Humanities. The Center’s mission is to promote literacy, libraries, reading, writing, books, poetry, and celebrate Wyoming’s literary heritage. Wyoming Center for the Book also coordinates Letters About Literature, Pronghorn Reads, and other great opportunities for the citizens of Wyoming.
