Wyoming Snapshot Day 2026 (WSD26) is just around the corner! Here’s all you need to know:
- What is WSD26? WSD26 is the Wyoming State Library’s (WSL) sixteenth annual online celebration of Wyoming libraries during which we collect photos and comments that demonstrate their impact on Wyoming communities.
- Who is invited to participate? ALL Wyoming libraries—public libraries, academic libraries, school libraries, and special libraries, large and small, are invited to participate in this year’s online event. (Please note: Libraries are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission to share photos, comments, etc.)
- When is it? WSD26 will take place during the week of October 12-16, 2026.
- Why should my library participate? So many amazing things happen in Wyoming libraries every single day, and your library provides essential resources and services to its community’s patrons in its own unique way. WSD26 is a great opportunity to share the impact your library has on your community with the rest of the state.
- How many photos or comments must my library send? Libraries may send as few or as many photos and comments as they choose! We would love to collect even just one photo or comment from every single library in Wyoming!
- Where should we send our photos and/or comments? Submit photos and/or comments by email to christi.weinzierl1@wyo.gov.
- Who or what should we take photos of? Feel free to send photos of library patrons and staff, events and programs, facilities and displays, etc. Give us a “snapshot” of an spectacularly ordinary day at your Wyoming library! - From whom shall we collect comments and how should these comments be collected? Libraries are encouraged to collect comments from both patrons and staff. Some libraries have forms available to fill out. Others have people write on large whiteboard or chart paper. Libraries can also record verbal comments with permission from the commenter.
- In what format should we share photos and comments? Please send photos as email attachments. Compile all comments into one Word file, Google doc, or PDF, and send the document as an attachment.
- What photo file types work best? JPEG and PNG photo files are most easily processed and shared to our website and social media channels. Other file types will be accepted, but they may take longer for us to process, or we may ask for you to convert them to another file type if we are unable to download/upload them.
- Must our library share photos and comments each day during WSD26 week? No. Choose the day during the week of WSD26 that works best for your library to take, collect, and share photos and comments.
- If we send in photos and comments earlier in the week of WSD26, may we send in more later in the week? Yes, we will accept photos and comments throughout the week. We will share all media we receive, however, we will prioritize media from libraries we haven’t featured yet.
- Where will our library’s photos and comments be shared and how will they be used? The WSL will share your library’s photos and comments on our social media channels (Facebook and X) and on the WSD26 website. Photos and comments may also be featured in WSL blogs, social media posts, presentations, etc.
- Where can our library find printable posters and other promotional materials for WSD26? Visit the WSD26 website for promotional materials and instructions or to sign up for this year’s event.

- Who will make the WSD26 event a success? All libraries who choose to participate in this year’s event will help promote goodwill for our amazing Wyoming libraries and share all the great things happening in the libraries across our state.
