Niobrara County Library is still housed in its 1919 Carnegie building.

The Alliance for Historic Wyoming’s (AHW) traveling exhibit celebrating historic Carnegie library buildings around Wyoming will be on display at the Niobrara County Library between June 13 and July 15. The library in Lusk was completed in 1919 with the help of a Carnegie Public Library Building Grant.

There will be a public lecture at 6:00 p.m. on June 22 by historian Barbara Bogart, a volunteer with the Alliance for Historic Wyoming, that will detail the history of Carnegie Libraries in Wyoming, including the story of Lusk’s library. The lecture is part of the AHW’s “Cowboy Carnegies” awareness campaign on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., with a reception starting at 5:00 pm. The lecture and exhibit are sponsored in part by a grant from the Wyoming Humanities Council.
