First Lady visits Dubois Library to promote GE Mammovan

Oct 11, 2012

First Lady Carol Mead was at the Dubois Library on Oct. 10 to provide a “Books and Brownies” program for local children as part of the “Mammovan” project.

GE has partnered with Wyoming Women First to provide access to breast cancer screenings with a solution called the Mammovan, the mobile mammography unit that is bringing screenings to towns across Wyoming. According to WY Women First, limited access to clinics offering these screenings has resulted in Wyoming’s low, national ranking for women who receive this crucial preventative measure.

As part of this program, libraries are sponsoring a “Books and Brownies” program that will be available for children who are with their mothers or caretakers. This program is sponsored by  Wyoming’s First Lady Carol Mead, Wyoming Libraries & The University of Wyoming Literacy Research Center and Clinic
