Happy World Read Aloud Day

Feb 5, 2025

February 5 is World Read Aloud Day, a day that celebrates the earliest form of preserving human knowledge, thought, and creativity. Often, reading aloud is thought to be a practice reserved for parents, teachers, and children.  Reading aloud and listening to stories and information being read aloud is great for kids, but has also been linked to many benefits for people of all ages, including increased memory retention and greater understanding.

Celebrate World Read Aloud Day by either reading aloud to yourself, a friend, a child, or a pet, or listening to a book being read aloud via audiobook. Libby on GoWYLD has thousands of e-audiobooks available to check out and listen to on your mobile device. Listen to a motivational self-help book, learn more about a topic you’re interested in, or enjoy a new story or old favorite work of fiction today!
