Katie Rahman Joins the Wyoming State Library

Jan 10, 2017

Katie Rahman has joined the Wyoming State Library as a Systems Librarian in the WYLD Office. Katie will be working with the rest of the WYLD team to support member libraries using SirsiDynix Workflows, Enterprise, and reporting tools. She moves into the position vacated by Desiree Saunders, who was promoted to WYLD Program Manager in October.

“We are very excited to have Katie join the WYLD Office,” Saunders said. “She has a strong customer service background and experience with the WYLD system from her work at Laramie County Library.”

Rahman worked for the Laramie County Library System from 2011 to 2014. She was in charge of interlibrary loan and also was a reference specialist. Originally from New Mexico, she moved back there while she worked on her graduate degree. She earned her Master of Library and Information Science degree from San Jose State University’s online program in 2016.

During her course of study, she realized that her strengths and interests lay in the behind-the-scenes, technical aspects of librarianship. Degree in hand, she wanted to return to Cheyenne. “I like it here,” she said. “I like the library community.” Working for the State Library held particular appeal, based on her interactions with WSL staff during her time at LCLS.

“The times I worked with people at the State Library, everyone was very polite and professional and seemed to enjoy their jobs,” Rahman said. “I think excellent customer service is the key to a library’s success.”
